Tablet doodle
It's been a while since I've posted something here - work has been crazy. I'm been Making a short film called Deadly and working on a cute preschool show called Boj. Things are beginning to ease up a tiny bit so here's a quick doodle made on my tablet using Sketchbook Pro. It looks a wee bit like famous bad guy and wolf puncher Liam Neeson...

Animation Art Show
So as always I've been ridiculously busy recently so sorry about the lack of posts. Here's a little work in progress of a piece I've done for the Animation Art Show which happens this weekend (2 & 3 November), called "Cat Idol". I haven't done a lot of paper craft/collage before, but it was fun to do so I might try to get into it some more.
Some amazing art will be auctioned for charity at the show, so if you're around Dublin you should mosey on over to the Science Gallery! www.animationartshow.com

More Life Doodlin'
No post last week - apologies for that - work is pretty crazy at the moment - not too crazy to find time to get a little bit of life drawing done. These are 2-5 min poses using charcoal and felt tip pen for a change!)
Also in case you don't know we've put up Episode 2 of the Flipped Animation Podcast (feat. Sony story artist/director Fergal Reilly) - www.flippedpodcast.com

Hydey-Hi
This Tuesday's post is late again - sorry about that. Here's a sketch of a Mr Hyde type character I did for a class I'm teaching to students at the Irish School of Animation. I'm teaching the (2D animation software) CelAction. - we've been rigging this fella - which explains the not too pretty T pose!

Random Sketch Book Page
Happy New Year 2013 - hopefully this year will be a happy, healthy and busy one for you all. It's already shaping up to me interesting for me - I'm working on an animation podcast - the first episode of which should be released by the end of January - so watch out for that! In doodles this week, I've scanned in a random page of a sketch book...

Top 10 Films of 2012
So it's that time for the year again. Here's a run down of my favourite films of the year - bearing in mind that I didn't see
all the best film 'contenders'
10. Skyfall
Back to basics and some much more - ticked all the Bond boxes and looked brilliant.
9. Margin Call
Taught, thriller(ish) filled with moral ambiguity and great performances
8. Wrinkles
Moving Spanish animated feature
set in an old peoples' home
7. The Imposter
Almost unbelievable documentary about a man pretending to be something he's not...
6. The Descendants
Excellent, slightly low key drama - wonderfully put together
5. Paranorman
Brilliant stop motion combining 80s adventure with 70s horror, great humour and fantastic animation
4. Argo
A fantastic story that manages
to perfectly balance drama, tension and humour
3. The Raid
Makes you wish all martial arts movies were as good as this
2. Moonrise Kingdom
Fantastic, charming, funny Wes Anderson flick.
1. Martha Marcy May Marlene
Creepy, haunting, extraordinary story of
life in a cult - outstanding performance from Elizabeth Olsen.
A few special mentions in the following categories:
In the 'Not As Bad As They Say' category...
John Carter of Mars
Prometheus
In the 'Every Bit As Bad As They' Say...
The Man with the Iron Fists
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
and finally in the 'Not As Good as They Say' category...
The Hobbit
The Master
Shame
Here's to a good film year 2013 - see you on the other side with more doodles!
